Rental Policies

The equipment rental program exists to serve the PSU population. In order to rent equipment at the PSU rates, individuals should be prepared to present a PSU ID Card, an Alumni Card or a current class schedule and a photo ID. Without of proof of affiliation with PSU, equipment is rented at the Non-Student Rate. In these instances the individual must present an official photo ID.

Rentals and reservations can only be conducted during Hanger Operational Hours. Although the Outdoor Program can provide general information concerning rentals, the people of this office are not able to rent or check-in equipment. Nor are they able to take reservations.

Reservations may be made up to 5 days in advance by calling the Hanger or stopping by during hours of operation. Payment in full must be made in order to hold a reservation. This can be done with cash, check, or Visa/Master Card. A 48 hour cancellation notice is necessary to request a refund.

Individuals will be required to provide a deposit on the equipment that they rent. This deposit is typically a credit card number left with the rental contract. Unless other arrangements are made, this number will be credited should the equipment be lost, stolen, damaged or soiled while in the possession of the renter.

It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure they have adequate transportation and in some cases, storage, for the equipment. This includes but is not limited to roof racks to transport kayaks.

An individual can only rent equipment for themselves and two (2) other people. Rentals larger than this require additional renters.

Individuals will be required to sign a release that includes a statement indicating that they have experience using the equipment they have rented.
